During the US Olympic trails in Central Park in 2007, the running world lost Ryan Shay, a gifted runner who was an Olympic hopeful. During the race, Ryan collapsed and died due to a heart condition.

Running and Charities

A day doesn't pass by in this media driven society when our attention isn't called to a celeb or sports star who's got a charitable foundation to fight a worthy cause. These folks parlay their celebrity status and popularity to raise millions of dollars that each of us "everyday people" couldn't raise in a lifetime.

The LATEST in the Footwear Craze!

It's no secret that I haven't fallen head over heels over the Vibram craze. This "barefoot" running proponent now boasts EIGHT styles of SHOES all in the name of barefoot running. Their products will combat the sins of the running shoe industry for ruining the evolutionary process of humanity by selling us shoes to run in, so they claim!

"More" Misery!

A morning that consisted of hard, unrelenting, wind driven rain, and cooler temps wasn't enough to dampen the spirits and and persistance of the women who ran and walked in yesterdays seventh edition of the More Fitness Half-Marathon in Central Park.

Our Winter Olympic Heros Are Runners Too!

The hot topic these days for water cooler talk is definitely the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.  Fleet Feet Mahwah is no exception even though we don't have a water cooler! I will say however, that when our customers talk about the Olympics as runner's, their sights usually focus on the Summer Olympics with the many track & field events. We often fail to recognize that our winter Olympians run as much or in some cases quite a bit more than we do!

I had the good fortune to travel to Washington DC for what's becoming our annual travel destination when we close Fleet Feet for the New Years Holiday.

Our nations Capitol is not only a beautiful city to visit for all it has to offer, but it's an outstanding city to run in as well.

Arthritis & Running!

A few months back I wrote about about running and knees. Lately, this topic's the most often talked about here at Fleet Feet Mahwah when people come in to be fit for shoes. News Years resolutions abound and more and more people are committed to hitting the roads as well as signing up to run races of half marathon distance or more!

As a result, this issue is worth writing about some more.
